A new report from WrestleVotes has come out in regards to former plans that included having a Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania.
Fans have been buzzing on there not being one especially since the men are getting the Andre the Giant Battle Royal on this week’s SmackDown. Last year, because of the pandemic, both were canceled. This year it could have been an excuse for not wanting the women from NXT to join to get enough women to participate. Regardless, there was apparently a plan to have the Battle Royal and not the current Tag Team Turmoil match we are getting on Night One.
One may wonder how would a Battle Royal determine the challengers for Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, well here’s how.
The Battle Royal would have ended with two “winners”- clearly a controversial ending. Those winners would have joined as a tag team (one would have hoped it would have already been an established team?) and face Baszler and Jax on Night Two for the titles. Pure speculation here but maybe that was the idea for Carmella and Billie Kay?
There was some confusion last night when the Tag Team Turmoil match was announced if Carmella and Bille were involved. WWE’s social media had posted graphics with the two of them not included and also with them included (this one was deleted). Currently, the most recent tweet shows them not included.
