This match has been brewing in the works for the past month now, but WWE officially announced it through their WrestleMania Twitter page once Monday Night Raw went off the air. The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection will defend their Women’s Tag Team Titles against Nia Jax and Tamina, The IIconics and the Divas of Doom.
As fans should recall, the Divas of Doom, Boss ‘n’ Hug and Nia Jax and Tamina have been interlocked in a feud ever since Fastlane. It was there that Nia Jax and Tamina laid out both teams following their failed attempt to win the titles.
Additionally, The IIconics had been calling out Sasha Banks and Bayley for a title match for about a month now. Their goading culminated last week when they defeated Boss ‘n’ Hug in a non-title match on SmackDown Live.
Earlier tonight on Raw, Natalya (with Beth Phoenix in her corner) and Sasha Banks (with Bayley in her’s) wrestled one-on-one only for Tamina and Nia Jax to interfere for a no contest. Although, The Glamazon would lay out both attackers single-handedly.
Backstage, Charly Caruso would ask the champions about their run-ins from challengers these past few weeks. Enraged, Banks would declare that her and Bayley will defend their titles against all three teams at WrestleMania.
Of course, since Banks doesn’t have the authority to book matches on the spot, we were skeptical of just how official this match announcement was. However, following the aforementioned tweet, we can now confirm that the match is on.
