Yesterday, Triple H announced NXT TakeOver XXV will take place in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The twenty-fifth TakeOver event—a rare NXT show that won’t occur during a WWE pay-per-view weekend—is scheduled for Saturday, Jun. 1.
Last week, WWE revealed they needed to reschedule the event because the original date conflicted with the upcoming show in Saudi Arabia. Before the company pushed the show up a week, TakeOver was originally slated to happen in San Jose on Jun. 8.
It is unclear which women will compete at the event, but Shayna Baszler will more than likely defend the NXT Women’s Championship. The developmental brand has been planting the seed for a feud between Baszler and Io Shirai for the last few weeks. So, it’s a safe bet that she could challenge for the title on the card.
There will probably be some special appearances to coincide with the twenty-fifth TakeOver. It’s a landmark occasion so it will be interesting to see what Triple H and William Regal have in store for the fans.
NXT TakeOver XXV is going down at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT on Saturday, Jun. 1 at 6:15 pm CST. Tickets will be available this Friday at 10 am.
