WWE files to trademark the name Piper Niven

Could the name Doudrop be dropped?

According to a report put out by PWInsider, WWE has reapplied to trademark the name Piper Niven. When Piper Niven made her way over to RAW from NXT UK in June she came into the brand being “unknown” according to commentary despite being with the company since 2019 and working in the Mae Young Classic beforehand. This was used to introduce her alongside a returning Eva Marie who named her Doudrop on-screen despite Niven trying to tell her what her name was.

Eva Marie was released by WWE in November along with several other superstars. Since then, Doudrop has been in a rivalry with Bianca Belair and on this past Monday’s RAW walked out on their match resulting in Belair winning via count-out.

Although there has been no confirmation of a name change back to Piper Niven for Doudrop, it would be plausible now that her character has moved in a different direction.

WWE has also recently reapplied to trademark the ring name Ivy Nile who is a current member of the Diamond Mine faction and is on NXT and 205 Live.

On December 6, WWE filed to trademark ‘Piper Niven’ with the United States Patent & Trademark Office, with the following description:

Mark For: PIPER NIVEN - for G & S: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment
