Welcome to another WWE Main Event Redux! Big apologies that this Redux is coming to you a few days late. Things have been so busy right now, all while we’re still trying to play catch up! On this week’s Main Event, Mickie James takes on Emma in what is pretty much a rematch from their last encounter from two weeks ago – minus a backstage Dana Brooke cameo appearance. Let’s get this compare and contrast recap on the road!
Mickie is out first and she’s all smiles as the natural babyface we all know and love! Emma follows suit and a listen over at the commentary table mentions Emma’s recent venting via social media of how she isn’t getting the opportunities she feels she deserves. #GivaEmmaAChance
The referee calls for the bell and the ladies lock up. Mickie takes Emma down with a headlock but Emma is able to reverse with a head scissors. Mickie manages to maneuver out of this and gets to her feet kip-up style. They lock up again, this time its Emma who takes control and tries to wear Mickie down by targeting her left arm. Mickie reverses with an arm drag and covers for a count of one.
Emma sweeps Mickie’s leg and goes for a cover of her own but Mickie kicks out. The women get back to their feet and in the spirit of sportsmanship, Emma extends her hand to Mickie for a friendly handshake. Mickie accepts, they shake but Emma wastes no time getting back to business as she tries to clothesline Mickie who dodges this and hits a neck breaker for a two count.
Emma whips Mickie sternum first to a corner and follows up by dangling Mickie from the top turnbuckle. Emma charges after Mickie but she avoids the attack, sending Emma to the outside ring instead. Mickie kicks Emma in the face and then flies off the ring apron for an effective ariel attack as head to a break!
When we return, Mickie is in full control of the match, taking Emma down with various kicks. She sets Emma up for the Mickie-D-T but Emma is able to escape with an elbow shot to the head. Emma runs the ropes but Mickie hits a flapjack upon arrival, taking Emma down. With Emma on the mat, Mickie goes to the top rope of a turnbuckle and lands her favorite seated senton!
She attempts the pin once again, but Emma kicks out. Things take a turn when Emma is able to slam Mickie face first to the middle turnbuckle and then cover her for the three count win!
Thoughts: This match wasn’t as fun as their previous encounter, so I’m not going to go on and on about the back and forth of it all because there isn’t much to talk about. The fact that they were given less time here doesn’t help either.
I’m a bit iffy about the ending of this match. It was pretty much the same ending to the Five Way Elimination match at Battleground involving Natalya and Charlotte Flair in that it ended so abruptly that you almost missed it. Emma got her redemption but where does she go from here? Will she try to recruit Dana Brooke again since, you know, there hasn’t much a follow-up between them? Or will Dana follow through Titus O’Neil’s advice of finding herself?
Also, where does Mickie go? Will she continue to go back and forth on Main Event with Emma or will they be able to blossom this feud on Raw? Let’s try to book more than women’s feud in the Raw Women’s division WWE.
What did you think of the match? Do you think there will be a Round Three for Mickie and Emma on WWE Main Event? Would you like to see these to in a full fledge feud? Let us know in the comments below!
