What’s up guys?
I’m pretty happy this week. Queen Nikki Bella is gracing us with her presence on Main Event, in what’s sure to be a pretty physical match against Summer Rae. Going into Elimination Chamber, Nikki is sure to be fired up. She’s got nothing to prove, but that doesn’t mean she won’t try and prove something anyway. With a triple threat title defense to look forward to (or not look forward to, I guess), she’s sure to want to blow off some steam.
Summer’s out first. She’s getting plenty of screen time lately. Whether or not it leads to anything we’ll have to wait and see. Nikki follows, hoisting her championship high. Brie is accompanying her sister, of course, and is all smiles. After being told to hang back on Raw, by Stephanie McMahon, I am here wondering if we might get a culmination of the Bella twins feud by having Brie turn on her sister at some point… Although if I’m honest, Nikki is definitely the better heel of the two.
The bell rings and we kick things off with Nikki briefly in control. She tosses Summer down, who rolls out of the ring. When she gets back on the ropes, Summer goes for Nikki’s hair (which is really hard to miss because IT’S SO LONG AND I’M SO JEALOUS) and drags her down to the mat. Summer takes impressive control of the champ, even going for an early pin. She gets a count of one.
Summer still in control, knocking Nikki down hard off the ropes. She has Nikki on the mat once more, keeping her grounded. Brie gets the crowd behind her sister, and it’s enough to help Nikki fight out of Summer’s hold. She comes back with a huge knee to the face that Summer feels all the way down to her toes! Nikki bursts out of the corner, with two clotheslines and a big drop kick. She has Summer on the ropes, delivering a big kick of the second turnbuckle. Great stuff from the champ! She goes for a pin, but can’t put Summer away just yet.
Nikki goes for the Rack Attack, but Summer slides out of it and nails Nikki with a big spinning heel kick off the ropes! It’s not enough to keep the champ down for the three just yet, though. Nikki, perhaps with the triple threat match looming over her, comes back fighting, slamming Summer’s face right into the canvas. She lines up the Rack Attack for a second time, and she picks up the win with the one, two, three!
Thoughts: Short and sweet, I guess. Not exactly what I’d call a squash match, because Summer got in some big hits, including her heel kick. But let’s all be honest here; this match was meant to make Nikki look strong heading into Elimination Chamber, and it did just that while managing to show that Summer isn’t someone who is going to be steam-rolled out of the way. She’ll put up a good fight, even against the Divas champ herself.
Speaking of, we may have a new one the next time I see you guys! Enjoy Elimination Chamber, guys. It ranks about third on my favourite PPV’s, so with a bit of luck it’ll be a heck of a show.
Until next time! x
