WWE No Way Out Predictions: Beth Phoenix vs Layla

Tonight at No Way Out, Divas Champion Layla defends her title Beth Phoenix. Which Diva will come out on top? The Diva Dirt team weigh in…

Bobby: To be honest, I don’t really care what happens in the division at this point. The Divas were off TV for weeks, and I’m guessing only brought back at the last minute because so many main eventers got injured or suspended that they were needed on the pay per view. My entire attention is going towards Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler, as well as CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kane, and what role AJ is going to play. No disrespect to any of the other Divas, but AJ is the division as far as I’m concerned, and when you look at it as the division only consisting of AJ, it’s the best era we’ve had in years! I don’t want that to come off as negative towards anyone else, but when there’s barely any attention given to a feud, I’m not going to have any reason to care what happens. A mixed tag match on Raw (albeit entertaining) and a 20 second segment on SmackDown isn’t enough for me to want to see this take place. I do hope Beth and Layla put on a good match though… but that’s all I can say really. Randomly just going for a Layla title retain and hopefully she can move on to feud with someone else after this. If not, hopefully she can, you know, at least appear on TV for a consistent week to week basis, I guess. But honestly… Let’s go AJ! Do the right thing! (I’ll leave it up to you to decide what I feel that is.)

Cryssi: Definitely going with Layla on this one. If there is one thing the WWE does, it’s keep their championships on the champions for a few months or so. Layla just won the title and has plenty of feuds and matches in her. I’d honestly like to see Kharma return mid-match and distract Beth, allowing Layla to get a roll-up victory. I think it could lead to an interesting three-way feud that could make Layla and gives us a dream scenario of a singles match between Beth and Kharma. I’m keeping in mind that I have no idea when/if Kharma will be returning but it would be a hell of a thing to see her come back like this. I’m just sayin’…

Erin: While they haven’t done much with Layla as champion, I don’t think they’re ready to “throw in the towel” on her reign just yet. I’m just hoping that this match puts some fire back in the title race, and I’m sure Beth can deliver that. I think that Layla will retain her title and they will extend (and hopefully improve) this feud.

Jake: First off, let me just say how happy I am a Divas Championship match was actually included on the card. As someone who will be attending this event live I would have been very depressed if the only Diva related moment of the pay-per view was Lilian Garcia tripping during her entrance. My guess for this match is Layla leaving Jersey with the Divas Title…. and leave quick, Lay, that part of Jersey is skeevy. I really think Layla has the potential to be THE Diva in the WWE and with rumors of Kelly leaving, they’re going to need someone on top. Layla can wrestle, she can act and she looks good in a bikini. Top Diva material right there. I say Layla gets the win and a longer reign. As much as I love Beth, it’d be nice to let some of the other heel Divas shine for a bit. Not naming any names or anything….*cough*MAXINE*cough*. All I know for sure is this is going to be a great match….and that I will have no voice the day after the pay per view from screaming for both ladies.

Katelyn: With this match only being put together, what, a week before the pay-per-view? – it seems as though the WWE doesn’t even really know what they’re doing with their women’s division at the moment. But, hey, at least it’s a match! I’d love to see Layla win, because I’d like to see her keep the belt and face fresh, new challengers (bring Maxine to Raw? The new NXT girls?), but can probably see Beth Phoenix winning this one.

Melanie: Seems pretty clear cut to me. Layla is still fresh into her run and I don’t see her losing the belt tonight. I can’t say the build to this match has been very exciting; the division has been on hiatus and only brought back a week before the pay per view. Hardly enough time to get anyone interested. Sadly, this feud could have been fantastic but the lack of storyline makes it just a match for the title, rather than a match with a backstory that you just have to see. I have no idea what WWE is looking to do with the Divas, but I truly hope they bring Kharma back soon. I’d love to see a triple threat feud between these three Divas, who I believe can all hold their own. It’d be different than just seeing one-on-one feuds. I’d have Kharma vs Layla vs Beth at SummerSlam, for example. As for tonight, Layla wins.

Who do you think will win?
