We are only a day removed from All Elite Wrestling’s Jacksonville rally and the promotion is still looking to sign the best female wrestlers in the world. Last night, AEW revealed they signed their first female competitors in Dr. Britt Baker and Penelope Ford.
To the extreme disappointment of AEW, it looks like one name they will not be signing onto their roster is Viper.
During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that AEW had made an offer to the independent star, only to discover that she was WWE bound.
Meltzer didn’t elaborate as far as how soon we should expect The Vixen of Violence inside of a WWE ring, but we should bet top dollar that we will be seeing Viper in a WWE ring in 2019.
Readers may recognize Viper for her Mae Young Classic 2017 performance as Piper Niven. She sped through the tournament’s first and second rounds respectively against Santana Garrett and Serena Deeb before losing in the semi-finals to Toni Storm.
For those unfamiliar with Viper’s previous work, The Megaton Barbie is best recognized across the independent circuit as being a mainstay of Insane Championship Wrestling since 2012. Viper has been a 2-time ICW World Women’s Champion, with her latest reign coming to an end at the hands of Kay Lee Ray in a Queen of Insanity match at Fear & Loathing XI.
Interestingly enough, Meltzer also mentioned that he’ll be covering Ray’s status at the end of the week. Could the ICW Women’s Champ be jumping to AEW, or will she join her best friend in WWE? Only time will tell. Or perhaps Meltzer’s loose lips will do the talking first by this week’s end.
In either case, if Viper is truly WWE bound, then this is a great grab for the WWE. After arriving to the Performance Center, we should expect her to report to either NXT or NXT UK. Most likely the latter, where we would be seeing Big Van Viper competing alongside – or against – her buddy Toni Storm.
