After releasing an editorial speculating on how Paige can make “controversial” decisions – such as creating a female tag division and bringing back Talking Smack – as SmackDown’s new GM, WWE is continuing to tease the possibility of women’s tag titles.
In a special pictorial gallery WWE showcased several dominate teams the women’s division has to offer, past and present. This gallery includes:
- The IIconics: Billie Kay and Peyton Royce
- Laycool: Layla and Michelle McCool
- Mickie James and Trish Stratus
- The Bella Twins: Brie and Nikki Bella
- Alexa Bliss and Mickie James
- Charlotte and Becky Lynch
- Absolution: Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville
- Beth Phoenix and Natalya
Sasha Banks noted that Team BAE, the BFFs, or her partnership with Bayley should have been included:
That’s it? BFF’s, Team B.A.E, Team B.A.D, The Boss and Hug connection?? ? https://t.co/lhJ2mVdfai

In March a rumor surfaced on Reddit that WWE was looking at reintroducing Tag Titles for the women’s division. The announcement would come closer to SummerSlam, according to reddit user /u/dvizzle a.k.a BeltFanDan.
Even though she’s out of action right now, Nikki Bella supports this idea:
Hey @RealPaigeWWE ?????????????? Brie and I would love to put the SnapBack, Nike kicks, jersey, flannel, headband, and twin power back on in that WWE ring! Feeling pretty ICONIC…. ? N https://t.co/2N7csMewUr

Women in the division, ranging from Sasha Banks to former Superstar Lita, have made comments supporting reactivating the titles.
“I would love that. I think we have enough women on the roster now to actually have a women’s tag division. We’ve been given multiple storylines but at the same time, it’s very hard to accomplish something if you’re not actually fighting for anything,” Banks said during an interview with Sky Sports in January. “Only one woman can go after the women’s championship and I think if we had tag team championships we’d be able to create way more interesting storylines. We have tag matches all the time, every single week, so I say why not get a championship involved in that?”
Could WWE be testing fan reactions with these ideas? What do you think? What other teams should be added to the list? Sound off in the comments below.
