Tamina & Natalya became the new Women’s Tag Team Champions on last week’s SmackDown by defeating Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax. The two teams collided at WrestleMania in April and although the crowd of returned fans were firmly behind Tamina & Natalya, the titles stayed put. Now a month later the fans support behind the team paid off.
WWE released on its YouTube page a behind the scenes video of that day. It features WWE Producer and former multi-tag team champion in his own right (and Nattie’s husband), Tyson Kidd. He discusses the history and friendship between Nattie and Tamina and how this was a full circle moment. Tamina had her debut match with Nattie in a mixed-tag team match alongside The Usos in 2010.
The video shows the moments leading up to the last friday’s match, the match itself, and the backstage reaction afterwards.
The new champions first defended their championships on RAW this past Monday. It was a rematch against Baszler & Jax. They were able to retain with a little help from Alexa Bliss who took care of Reginald and distracted Baszler enough for Natalya to get the pin.
