Xia Li laid down a challenge to the NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez for a championship match on last week’s NXT. She instantly received her title shot and found herself in the main event of this week’s NXT.
Towards the end of the match, there was some concern for Li. The match stalled when she was being checked by medical in the corner of the ring. Gonzalez dropped down on Li directly on her midsection in the corner of the ring. After the champion received a near fall for her efforts, referee Aja Smith held off Gonzalez while she was checking on the status of the challenger.
The match continued once Li was on her feet but it ended immediately as Gonzalez delivered her one-arm powerbomb to get the three count and retain her title.
For those who may have been concerned for Li outside of the spot possibly being a work, Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful has been told that she appeared to be okay backstage.
