Xplosion Write-Up: Lost in Time

Good day Knockout fans and welcome to another edition of Xplosion Write-Up! In this latest uploaded episode of Xplosion, we are going to do a bit of time traveling, going back to the month of July, when this Knockouts triple threat match featuring Madison Rayne, Angelina Love and Gail Kim originally aired. Safe to say SO MUCH has changed since the airing and taping of this match!

Once our three competitors make their entrances and assemble to the six sided ring, the referee calls for the bell, triggering Madison and then non pregnant Angelina to mutually go after Gail but Gail rolls under their running clothesline. Gail then begins to take her opponents out one at a time, first taking them out with a double clothesline and following it up bulldog/head scissors takedown!

Gail then turns her focus to Madison, landing right forearms to the queen bee but gets a blow to the face when she turns her attention to Angelina. As Angelina whips Gail to the corner, Madison joins in on the attack and the two Beautiful People members manage to take Gail out of the equation with a double drop kick, causing Gail to land to the grounds on the outside of the ring. We head to a commercial break.

When we return, we find that Gail is still on the outside while Angelina and Madison begin to butt heads against each other, swindling arm drags to one another. Angelina manages to break this chain by tossing Madison’s head to the mat and going for a quick cover. Madison kicks out at two and gets back on her feet to return the favor by pulling Angelina’s hair and tossing her head onto the mat. Madison goes for a pin but Angelina is able to kick out at two.

An upset Angelina lashes out at Madison for her dirty hair pulling scheme but Madison simply replies with a northern lights suplex pin. Angelina kicks out and this time holds back on any words she may want to yell out to hit Madison with a cartwheel kick. She also spies Gail at the ring apron and continues to keep her out of the picture by knocking Gail off the ring apron as she tries to climb her way back into this match.

Gail eventually finds a way back into this triple threat match when Madison and Angelina take each other out after hitting one another with a running face crusher. Instead of simply entering the ring through the ropes, Gail comes back to this match by climbing the top rope of a turnbuckle to land a flying dropkick to both Angelina and Madison.
Gail gets right back to bringing the fight to her two opponents by stacking them up to a corner and delivering a corner crossbody. She then uses the second rope to hit a straddle attack to each of her foes and tries to pick up the win via sunset flip pin to Madison but Madison manages to kick out at two.

Gail looks for an Eat Defeat onto Madison but Madison reverses this and tries to keep Gail in one spot for Angelina to hit the Botox Injection. Angelina manages to hit her finisher but strikes Madison instead of her intended target Gail, who slips out of Madison’s grip. Gail goes for Eat Defeat again, successfully hitting it on Angelina this time and gets the three count win for this exhibition match.

Thoughts: A pretty solid bout between these three Knockouts.

Although it can be considered an “old match” given how long ago this was taped, it still had a refreshing feel to it. Things moved at a well-mannered pace and this match was just a nice reminder of how much chemistry all three participants have with one another.

With Angelina having to take some time away from the ring for her pregnancy, Gail now in ninja mode on Impact’s main show and Madison in the beginning stages of her newly touched rocker babyface Beautiful People persona, these Xplosion matches can at least give fans a chance to sort of unwind from all of those main storyline gimmicks to enjoy these clean slated exhibition matches. In a way, these delayed uploaded Xplosion matches also serve as a way to still provide us with Knockouts matches in the midst of still wondering what is to come for TNA and their television future.
