Your Two Cents: Greatest American Women’s Wrestlers

“Your Two Cents” is our interactive feature where we gauge the opinions of our Twitter and Facebook followers on different discussions in women’s wrestling.

This week, we’re asking this: In celebration of Independence Day, we want to know: who do you think is the greatest American women’s wrestler in history? We’ve read your responses on our social media pages and picked some of the best submissions to highlight here on the website. As always, you can join the debate by leaving your comments!

Our Two Cents

Batting for Team DD this week, it’s Bobby giving us his personal opinion on this week’s topic:

Bobby: Hmm, if I were to pick my favorite American female wrestler… that’s a tough one because pretty much everyone I like is American. I feel like AJ will get a lot of picks from others who answer this so I’m not going to say her since I want this to be different. Looking at my fav five, when you remove AJ, I’m left with two Canadians and two Americans, so of those two that count, the one I like more is none other than Kaitlyn!

I feel like Kaitlyn doesn’t get enough credit because of how soon she was brought into TV, and the fact that she ended up winning NXT despite being the least experienced girl on the roster. I think her skills have improved drastically (and to be honest, outside that Maxine match on Season 3, I never really found her to even be bad in the ring then), plus she has comedic timing which is so hard to find in the Divas. Much like AJ, I feel like Kaitlyn could be a huge player if they take the gamble on her. She shined alongside Maxine in NXT Redemption, and I think it would be a shame to see her fall back down the Diva totem pole after providing so much fun before the show format changed. So to sum it up, I’m a Kaitlyn fan and I’m proud of it!

Your Two Cents

Charlie Flickinger | People may disagree, but I say Nikki Roxx. Not only is she a phenomenal wrestler I feel like she’s one of the better mic workers. She’s been doing this for over 10 years and still hasn’t gotten that awesome moment that I feel she deserves.
Dave Nguyen | The only answer has to be The Fabulous Moolah. She has held the Women’s Title longer than anyone else. 30-plus years.
Eric Holt | There’s so many to choose from, but I’m gonna choose one and go with AJ. Now, I know she is more of a recent Diva, but I have my reasons for choosing her. First and foremost, this girl is passionate about wrestling. Ever since she was a little girl, she always dreamed of being a wrestler. Wrestlers like Lita (who she was fortunate enough to meet), Trish, and Molly were her inspirations. Unfortunately, her journey wasn’t easy. Her family was homeless and weren’t all that fortunate. She worked many jobs to pay to go to wrestling school. In the end, however, all her hard work paid off, and look where she’s at now? AJ is now one of the top Divas in the WWE today and will go down in history as one of the best. In my eyes, AJ is a perfect example of the American Dream: she started off with nothing, worked hard for her dreams to come true, and now, is doing what she loves best, which is wrestling.
Josh Hettinger | I would have to say Tara/Victoria or Alundra Blayze. They both were very fluent in the ring and I feel alundra was ahead of her time and set the bar. Victoria/Tara is just an all around beautiful person and she always delivers in the ring.
Josue Guzman | While there a numerous amount of women to choose from I’m going to say Cheerleader Melissa. She is phenomenal in the ring and can play gimmicks as proven through her portrayal as Raisha Saeed and Alissa Flash in TNA. She’s been with Shimmer since day one, where she has had a famous on and off feud with MsChif. I’ll always remember when she was finally rewarded with the Shimmer Title. Her hard work, commitment and loyalty to the sport of wrestling can be seen even through this day.
@ProudMickieArmy | Mickie James, the first and only female Triple Crown Champion.

And now we turn it over to you…
