WWE has made an official statement that Zelina Vega has been released from the company.
Vega had spent most of her WWE career alongside Andrade as his manager. She had made sporadic appearances as an in-ring talent. She has prior in-ring experience from TNA (under the name Rosita) and various independent promotions.
Most recently she broke away from her managerial role from Andrade and Angel Garza to chase after a championship. She had a championship match at Clash of Champions in September for the RAW Women’s Title against Asuka.
Since then, she was moved to the SmackDown roster as part of the 2020 Draft. Her last match was on the Nov. 6 episode of SmackDown where she lost in a Triple Threat match against Ruby Riott. This match also included Natalya. It was for a spot on this year’s Survivor Series team.
Her most recent post on Twitter right before the news broke was as follows:
Although the reason for Vega’s release has not been given at this time, she was one of the wrestlers who used platforms such as Twitch and YouTube to share her life with her fans.
Vega had the following to say in a post on her Twitter to thank the WWE Universe and provides a tribute to her late father.
Diva Dirt wishes the best for Zelina Vega and we hope to see her in a wrestling ring in the near future!!
