Zoey Stark Stands Tall Ahead Of Heatwave; Perez vs. Jade Match Added

Could Zoey Stark become the next NXT Women’s Champion? If the end of this week’s episode of NXT 2.0 is any indication then she may just be.

Stark took on Cora Jade in the main event of this week’s episode of NXT 2.0. Ahead of her match against Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Title on next week’s Heatwave special, Stark had to take out Jade to prevent from anything changing in her title match. Rose struck a deal with Jade that she would get the title match if she was able to take out Stark this week.

The match would receive a decent amount of time for the two women with Jade trying everything she can to pull out a win. This includes try to introduce a weapon into the match, which the referee would get rid of initially. The match would break down to Jade trying to go for her weapon once again. It was located in the corner of the ring but by the time she made it to the corner, her former best friend and tag team partner Roxanne Perez was on the outside and had already grabbed the weapon.

Perez’s appearance caused the distraction needed for Stark to put away Jade while pointing to the NXT Women’s Champion who was on commentary. Post-match, Perez would enter the ring with the weapon and go after Jade chasing her from the ring to the backstage area. Rose attempted to take advantage of this distraction and attack Stark from behind but she was caught and planted fast first into her championship belt. Stark would hold the gold in the air to end the show.

During the start of this match, it was confirmed that Jade and Perez will go one-on-one at Heatwave next week. A match that Jade originally tried to decline and get away from.

Complete match results from this week’s show are –

Nikkita Lyons defeated Kiana James

Arianna Grace defeated Thea Hail

Zoey Stark defeated Cora Jade

Lyons vs. James opened the show and unfortunately for James she couldn’t pull out a win. After the referee caught James trying to use the ropes for assistance with a pin, Lyons would deliver a spinning back heel kick the get the victory. Post-match, while Lyons was celebrating her win still in the ring, James would attack her from behind with her computer bag.

Arianna Grace took on Thea Hail. This marked Hail’s first match on NXT 2.0 despite having several outings on NXT: Level Up. Grace went into this match with a black eye courtesy of Hail from their last encounter on Level Up.

After Hail delivered a standing moonsault for a near fall, Grace would complain about her black eye to the referee causing Hail to argue with the official. While Hail was preoccupied, Grace delivered a big boot and delivered a power slam to get the pin and the victory.

As always, NXT 2.0 makes sure to have women featured throughout the show and this week was no different. Besides the three matches we received, there were several vignettes, promos, and backstage moments.

Lash Legend was seen backstage arguing over her feud ending with Alba Fyre to Malik Blade and Edris Enofe. Legend ended up losing that rivalry and eventually was approached by Pretty Deadly who seemed to come to her defense over Blade and Enofe. Later during a match between the two male tag teams, the NXT UK Tag Team Champions Briggs & Jensen would get involved in the match and brought Fallon Henley to the ring with them. Legend would join the fray and level Henley seemingly starting a new feud.

Tiffany Stratton and Wendy Choo’s rivalry is heating up when Stratton was caught in a room with Choo. Choo attacked Stratton in the dark before confirming the that feud isn’t over.

Last week we crowned new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions in that of Kayden Carter and Katana Chance. This week they seemed to be open to facing the team of Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz who was backstage getting advice from Sanga.

Stark and Lyons talk about their upcoming first-round match-up in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Tournament.

And lastly, a vignette aired for Toxic Attraction. Also, Jayne hinted at a possible change, maybe a call-up taking place soon in her tweet that can be seen below.
